International Plastic Modellers' Society
South Island Championships - 2020
26 - 27 September 2020
20 June 2020: Registration is now open
The great Lockdown of 2020 upset our plans for March 2020, however we are now on track to hold a re-scheduled event in September. The Central Otago Model Society (COMS) is therefore pleased to announce the South Island International Plastic Modellers Society (IPMS) Championships - 2020, to be held on 26 - 27 September in conjunction with the Alexandra Blossom Festival.
South Island members of the IPMS meet annually at different locations around New Zealand's South Island to compete against each other at the highest standards of plastic model building in New Zealand. This year the competition will be held in Alexandra, Central Otago. The COMS hosted the IPMS Nationals in 2012 and 2017 and is using this same website format to support attendees in 2020. We look forward to seeing some great entries from South Island modellers this year, plus providing the public the opportunity to view plastic models constructed to the highest levels of modelling craftsmanship.
The COMS provides competitors with this website to record IPMS registrations and model entries, provide visit and support information and ultimately to display the results of the championships. We have found that pre-arranging model entries online takes a significant workload off the organising team on opening day, which is why we are using the same process again.
Some folk had registered and submitted entries for the March 2020 event which we had to cancel. As there is no guarantee that the same modellers or models will be registered for the September event, our registration process will start with a clean slate, meaning all entrants must creat a new login, personal registration and submit model entries.
The COMS will support the IPMS event with displays of members model train layouts - something we always do at Blossom Festival for the public. There will be no additional activities such as tuition or project building after public display hours as had originally been our intention for a March event.
